Own the strategy, roadmap and lifecycle for RF, DSP and FPGA-based embedded computing products at a global leader in rugged, open-architecture, standards-based embedded computing. Their technology serves defense, aerospace, industrial and commercial applications where performance and reliability are mission-critical.
This role sits between engineering, customers, sales and executive leadership. You will use a hands-on engineering foundation to find market opportunities, define requirements, weigh technical tradeoffs and guide products from concept through launch. It is a fit for an experienced technical product manager with deep RF/DSP/FPGA expertise, or a design engineer ready to move into product management. Minimal travel.
What You’ll Do
- Own and maintain the product strategy for RF/DSP and FPGA solutions within the broader portfolio
- Build multi-year product roadmaps based on customer needs, technology trends, competitive intelligence and business objectives
- Translate complex system-level requirements and engineering tradeoffs into clear product strategies and requirements
- Develop business cases for new products and present recommendations to executive leadership
- Lead product concept definition and support the NPI process from initial requirements through launch
- Evaluate competitive products, technologies, architectures and form factors
- Manage product-line financial performance, including revenue, cost, profitability and investment priorities
- Partner with engineering to define requirements, technical differentiation and development priorities
- Work with sales, customers and partners to understand market requirements and identify new opportunities
- Join customer engagements and provide technical support in complex discussions
- Develop technical presentations, product collateral, training materials and other product communications
- Support secure customer engagements where required
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend enhancements, investments or lifecycle changes
- Influence cross-functional teams and drive outcomes without direct authority
- Explain complex RF, DSP, FPGA and embedded technologies clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
Background Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline (Master’s preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in RF, DSP, FPGA, embedded electronics or related defense/embedded technology markets
- Strong technical understanding of FPGA architectures, RF systems and digital signal processing
- Strong understanding of the full RF-to-digital signal chain: RF front ends, data converters, FPGA processing and DSP
- Proven ability to understand real-world hardware implementations, not just theoretical RF/DSP concepts
- Experience with embedded electronics and/or embedded software
- Experience evaluating system-level tradeoffs, including performance constraints, architecture, cost and manufacturability
- Ability to turn technical concepts into product requirements, product definitions and business cases
- Strong communication skills across engineering, sales, customers, suppliers and executive leadership
- Work authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card
Also Valuable
- Prior product management experience with FPGA, DSP, RF, mixed-signal or embedded computing products
- Experience moving from design engineering into product management
- Direct design experience with products combining FPGA, DSP and RF/mixed-signal technologies
- Experience with rugged embedded computing, COTS products, defense, aerospace or other high-reliability applications
- Experience developing and managing multi-year product roadmaps
- Experience building and presenting business cases, investment proposals and product strategies to executive leadership
- Experience with NPI/NPD launches and product lifecycle management
- Familiarity with Military Standards and requirements development for defense products
- Experience with customer-facing technical presentations, demos and strategic engagements
- Embedded software and/or firmware development experience
- Experience managing product profitability, revenue, cost and portfolio performance
- Prior technical leadership or product management experience without direct reports
The Company and What They Offer
- Technically challenging products supporting mission-critical applications
- Collaborative environment that values engineering expertise and innovation
- Exposure to customers, senior leadership, engineering, sales and strategic business decisions
- Opportunity to influence long-term product strategy and technology direction
